Ability to purchase from local warehouse. Office and back end staff were friendly and professional. They processed my order efficiently, securely bundled it for transport.

The material, however, looked like seconds or someone’s returns. 1x1x1/16 6063 aluminum tubing. I should have inspected before returning 40 miles to my project site.

The material was not marked with any manufacturer’s info or the the grade/temper. There were substantial scratches and markings on all of the 3(ea) 24′ lengths i purchased. As 6063 is billed as “architectural” material, ergo, appearance materials, this batch could not be used for visual application. My hunch is cheap, non-spec or off-spec Chinese aluminum.

I buffed the material post-fab with Scotch-Brite. It hopefully will hold up for use as a shelf in my enclosed trailer (not exposed to the elements. I will be more diligent to inspect materials in future purchases.

I find it very convenient that Metal SuperMarkets cuts the metal to the exact size I need. Their large machinery produces a very clean cut so that I was able to take the cut expanded steel sheet and directly weld it into place – very nice. Since their metals are stored inside, I also appreciate that it wasn’t covered in rust which saves me time and makes for a cleaner finished product.
